The gateway to electron microscopy: CIME@EPFL.CH

Service request:

Typical duration: 1-3 sessions on a SEM or TEM.
We do the preparation, the experiment and the interpretation for you. No experience required.

  • You have very occasional needs and training on a microscope would require more time than the actual experiment...
  • You are a CIME user and need some assistance with a microscope or a technique that you are not (yet) trained on.
  • You have a problem and guess that EM would give you the answer. We will try it for you ! (pilot study)
  • it is very urgent and you cannot wait for the next user training....

Send us your service request.

Training request:

You are working on a project that requires that you do your own microscopy:

  • We will train you on the appropriate microscopes: you become a CIME user.
  • We help you to obtain the best out of our microscopes.
  • With your experience increasing you can apply for training on:
additional microscopes (High-Resolution SEM/TEM) and analytical techniques (EDX, EELS, EBSD).
Read further about our SEM and TEM training courses, and send us your training request.

Project Proposal: Collaborations

You need the expertise and competence of the electron microscopy center but you do not want to become a fully trained user:

  • Discuss your needs with us. Collaboration with the CIME can be quite flexible. We will find a solution together with you !

Send us your collaboration proposal.

Industrial Service

You are not an academic institution but you need SEM or TEM service.

Foucused Ion Beam Service

Micromachining, TEM-lamellae preparation, FIB/SEM cross-sectioning, 3D volume anlaysis and reconstruction (see FIB techniques under EM techniques).
We have the expertise and experienced operators:
